News as of  21st March 2020 COVID-19

Following the latest Government advice on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation on March 23, 2020, we would like to assure all guests that at Sandhill House we have put additional measures in place to enable you to maintain social distancing.

We want to welcome everyone to Sandhill House with the reassurance that we have your health in mind, so you can enjoy the fresh air and some exercise over our grounds and gardens during your stay.

Our focus will remain on ensuring a safe visit and keeping the grounds open for guests to appreciate. Enjoying the healthy benefits of fresh air and experiencing the changing season is incredibly uplifting and essential to many.

The health of all our staff, visitors and guests is our top priority, therefore we have put these additional practices in place across the estate to offer you the opportunity to keep visiting and maintain social distancing:

  • Our cancellation policy has been reduced to 24 hours notice for all current bookings and for all future bookings until further notice
  • As per government guidelines, please stay at home if you are feeling unwell or showing any symptoms listed on the government website – see
  • If you’re planning to visit Sandhill House and you have returned recently from abroad, please be considerate to our other visitors and follow government advice

  • Breakfast orders will be taken at the table and the breakfast buffet has been adapted in the following ways:
    • Table layouts at breakfast have been placed one meter apart
    • The selection of pastries has been covered
    • Breakfast cereals, juices and yoghurts are now provided in the individual portion sizes
    • Dried fruit and nuts are still available but have been removed from the buffet and can be requested if required

  • Antibacterial hand gel is currently available at each entrance and is also available at the entrance to the dining room.
  • All surfaces and door handles are being cleaned with antibacterial wipes three times a day by our cleaning staff
  • All room keys are being cleaned with anti-bacterial wipes when they are returned to us
  • Additional communal sitting areas have been opened to enable great social distancing
  • We would encourage you not to shake hands and instead find other low contact greetings. An elbow tap seems to be the most common custom.
We would like to thank you for all your support throughout this very sad time. Elaine & Peter
